Palghar, Maharashtra, June 09, 2025 – Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (Lupin Foundation), the CSR arm of global pharmaceutical leader Lupin Limited (Lupin), in collaboration with the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, flagged off its third mobile medical van (MMV) under the “Lives” program in Palghar district of Maharashtra.
The MMV was flagged off at the Primary Health Centre in Gorhe by Ms. Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, Hon’ble State Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, in the presence of Dr. Hemant Vishnu Savara – Member of Parliament, Palghar, Shri Harichandra Bhoye – MLA, Vikramgad & Wada, Shri Rajendra Gavit – MLA, Palghar, Shri Manoj Ranade – Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad Palghar, Shri. Bhausaheb Fatangare, Add. Collector Palghar, Dr. Santosh Chaudhary – District Health Officer, Zilla Parishad Palghar, Mrs. Archana Gowari – Sarpanch, Gorhe, along with Ms. Tushara Shankar – CSR Head, Lupin & LHWRF and Mr. Akash Patel – Site Head, Lupin Tarapur.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Meghna Sakore-Bordikar stated, “The launch of this mobile medical van marks a significant step in our mission to bring quality healthcare to the doorstep of our rural communities. Often, access is an issue for people living in rural areas. Hence, we are very pleased that Lupin is partnering with us on this journey of promoting equitable and accessible healthcare for all. This initiative aims to improve early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).”
This is the third MMV under the Lives program and will serve two blocks (Jawhar and Wada) covering a population of over 400,000 in Palghar district. The two existing vans in the district serve Palghar and Dahanu blocks and Vikramgad and Talasari blocks.
Ms. Tushara Shankar, Head, CSR – Lupin and LHWRF, emphasized the broader vision of the Lives program, “By deploying mobile medical vans and strengthening local health infrastructure, we aim to ensure early detection, timely treatment, and sustained management of non-communicable diseases. Our collaboration with the Maharashtra Government exemplifies how public-private collaborations can drive meaningful change in rural healthcare.”
Inaugurated in 2023, the Lives program is a joint initiative between the Government of Maharashtra and LHWRF. It aims to detect NCDs early through community-based screening, provide diagnosis via fully equipped MMVs, and manage cases through regular camps and free medication. The program also focuses on building NCD corners at subcentres and conducting village-level awareness drives to foster behavioral change within communities.
The Lives program has made a significant contribution to public health in Maharashtra and Rajasthan, with a focus on cardiovascular and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. The program has screened over 192,677 individuals across 673 villages and has conducted more than 1,100 free medical camps, providing complimentary consultations to over 65,000 patients.
